FILM PREVIEW- The Raising of the K-129

All,
The trailer for the film "The Raising of the K-129" is now
available here: http://www.projectjennifer.at/

Click on the trailer tab on the bottom to start the Quicktime movie. I had posted earlier information on this documentary film, which should be available next year. Still not certain who will carry the program in the US. It will also be available on DVD.

I've been privileged to be a small part of this project for the past 2 1/2 years.

Tom,

This will be a very, very interesting film. I am looking forward to seeing some of the 'loose ends' of the current, known story explained.

I can't wait to see

I can't wait to see this film!

I remember, Tom, that we had a small debate sometime last year about the credibility of John Craven's version of the Project Jennifer story. I hope this film will show the true story of this project. After all, a lot of disinformation has been released over the years. It is time the general public gets to know the truth. It's history now...

And perhaps the still highly classified photographs taken of the wreck will be released as well. I have always wanted to see those....

Of course, I will have to wait for the film's release on DVD (suitable for the European region). Is the release date known yet?

Or, even better, would somebody be so kind and record it when it's been aired?

If you haven't watched the trailer, then you should do so. If you have, you need to go back and look again. The men being interviewed were all very senior project engineers, and over the 2 hours of the program, you will learn details of the engineering and recovery attempt. These were the people who were there, on site, during the recovery. These are the people who designed the recovery equipment, and operated it during the recovery. Craven was not there.

If you pay attention to the trailer, you will see a B&W photo of the wreck on the ocean floor. The "highly classified photographs" were taken in 1968 by USS Halibut, and the Navy was not approached for those. The wreck photo in the trailer was obtained using one of the 12 cameras on the CV in 1974. What you will see portrayed is a highly accurate digital reconstruction of the recovery operation. None of it is guesswork.

Of course, I will have to wait for the film's release on DVD (suitable for the European region). Is the release date known yet?

Release date should be sometime in the spring of next year. The DVD will be available from WBGH International, in both US and European format (Michael White operates out of Vienna, Austria). see]http://www.wgbhinternational.org/index.php?sid=1x269sci9bg5qg01fjryird6zexzyyjp&lan g=english&page=in_production&dle_pp=0&dle_od=asc&p r_act=details&pid=684

Having watched Michael pour a lot of his own money into this film, in addition to his heart and soul over a three year period. I would hope you would buy a copy of the DVD rather than just have someone rip you off a copy.

Hold your horses Tom! As a rule, I do NOT copy DVDs or CDs if the originals are readily available. I grant everyone his earnings....
The reason I asked if anyone would be so kind to record the programme for me when it's aired is that I presume that it will be shown (long) before the DVD becomes available and I just can't wait to see it. Simple as that.

If you haven't watched the trailer, then you should do so.
I tried several times, but all I get is a broken link symbol. I'll try again later.

Glad to hear that. It will probably be available on DVD before it is shown on television.

The trailer video is currently available and I just checked and it plays fine for me. You probably need to download Quicktime onto your computer, as it is a Quicktime movie, and may need it to play, depending on your configuration. Go here]http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Select either Mac or PC version, depending on your machine, and download. Once you have done that, the Trailer link on the web site shouldl automatically open and play the preview in Quicktime.

Thanks! That's all Michael White and his talented group. Michael has worked in films for 30 years (including many you have seen).

The tech drawings & other materials were provided by the engineers involved in the program. What you see in the film is NOT a guess at what it looked like; it is an actual reconstruction of events using CGI.

I'll keep you updated on when the film will be shown and the DVD available. Thanks to all for your interest!

The Trailer has been recently

The Trailer has been recently updated, with the "ocean haze" and particles added to enhance realism. We are still waiting to see who will pick up the film in the US for television.

PBS has declined, as it would cut too much into their showings of Antique Roadshow and Yanni concerts during fundraisers. Seriously, their reason was it was "too technical".
