    Epoxy question.

I accidentally left my epoxy in my car over night and it got very cold, the epoxy wasn't solid but it took all of five minutes for the bubble to travel up the 2 oz bottle. Is the epoxy still usable? I know CA can be stored in a cold environment but I'm not sure of epoxy. I looked on the vendors website but couldn't find info that specific. Thanks in advance.

      Thanks BD, you wouldn't normally

Thanks BD, you wouldn't normally catch me either but I kind of had to bag myself. The reason it didn't freeze solid I think is because of the chemicals, but it was pretty stiff. I'd hate to take a chance that all is fine, put my boat together only to have everything fall off while running. Now that would be embarrassing. I can't give Tony any ammo, cause he would use it .

        Should be OK Don. It

Should be OK Don. It may have crystallized a bit, but if you give it a couple days at room temp, then a stir, i think it will be back to normal...

All else fails, bring it to Tony's place for some outgassing!

              Epoxies will form crystals when

Epoxies will form crystals when stored for long periods or subjected to cold temperatures.
To rectify the problem, simply place the container in a warm bucket of water - 150- 180 F for half an hour or so. The crystals will 'melt' so then stir the contents thoroughly and allow to cool before using.
Once they are at ambient temperatures, then you can mix them with the resin. It is usually the hardeners that form crystals.

Some epoxy pastes (metal filled etc) sometmes seperate out, so the metals form a hard lump with an 'oil' on the surface. Once again, warm the pot up, stir the 'oil' back in, and allow to cool.

You can't really mess these products up until you mix the base with the hardener, and that can easily be done by poor mixing, bad mixing ratios etc.

I have a good article on using epoxies and fillers at

Don you did what?? I can't believe anyone would do something like that and put it on the board. AMMO you gave me an entire bunker. God I wait for days like this Xmas came early. Don wait until the meeting we will show you the proper way to store epoxy. I have to go into my library of insults and call you by phone this is to good to be true. God I love days like this.
Dave you should come up to the next meeting on the 20th the food will be great but the jokes will be outstanding. I bet he put his tongue on the frozen flag pole too. Oh Don you made a bad day better thanks so much.

But the truth is just let it warm up to room temp and it will be fine. But thanks for putting that up on the board you made my day. It is nice to have friends like you. I have to buy you lunch for a laugh this good

Let me think no I have never done that one.
