    Blueback Question

My good friend Paul (Seahorse) is building a Blueback. He
was telling me he wished he had better drawings as it looked to him like the deck may have gratings or a wood plank section. I could see what he was talking about on the plans.
I told him just ask the SC. Post a question.
That is what the organization is all about, sharing info.
I am sure there are members that have good photos or have actually been on the sub and would know for sure.
So as we are having an ice storm now and I have nothing to do but surf the net I figured I would ask for him.
So if anyone has better deck photos of the BB or more info on the deck details please chime in.Thanks, BD.

          wooden deck grating

Howdy - When I was on board the U.S.S. Blueback 3 years ago, I observed a rope locker just forward of the sail and at a slight angle going from starboard to port (as seen from the bow) that had a wooden grating and looked to be covered with creosoted The person giving the tour said it was used to store deck lines and cables. I only noticed the one with a wooden covering... Mike Dory

              Yes I did Rich, Thanks
Most of those I had in my collection as well.
I think Paul wants something taken from a birds eye view over the sub, or from someone standing on the deck.
Thank you for the info Mike.
              Much appreciated. BD.

                      Paul,

The original wood deck ran from just forward of the rope locker Mike Dory mentioned aft to around frame 57. Send me a PM with your e-mail address.

The drawings he has are correct. The planking is Teak and when your standing on the deck, you can see the piping and such that runs under it.
