    Ships TABs

I'm posting here, because I can't figure out where else to post.
What I need to know is, have TABs for either the Permit (594) or Sturgeon (637) Class boats been declassified?

For those who don't know what a TAB is, it's a Training Aid Booklet. Each boat was issued TABs specific to it, they contained detail drawing of the boat and it's various systems (Excepting Nuke Power). Obviously, they'd be very useful to modelers.

If they have been declassified, I feel sure I could get scans of the drawings, and, maybe, get them published. But I need Official documentation of the declassification order.

    Thanks, in advance,
    Mike K.

I'd guess they'd still be classified, but if they weren't I'd like to know how to get a copy, too.

      Not sure, but based on

Not sure, but based on what I signed for the 688 and 21 boats, it's 20 years after the last boat in the class is decommisioned...

        TAB Manuals

Thanks, Chris, that was my understanding, too. But I've seen other documents declassified in shorter time frames. I was kind'a hoping that would happen to the TABs.

Along the same lines, I've seen some TAB pages posted on WEB sites (Profile, Comparmentation, Sail). Is it possible, that, they've declassified some pages and not others? If so, where would you find out which pages are in what category? Some would be better than nothing.

          Funny thing is, some of

Funny thing is, some of the stuff I signed for is now out in public domain, and has been for some time. Gotta love the government!

I would try going through the National Archives, or a FOIA request. A lot of stuff I've seen in TABs is pretty benign.

            Piping TAB online

            Mike,
The Piping TAB for SSBN 611 is available here:

It's been posted there for well over a year. Don't know what that says about its status...

              TABs

Thanks a bunch, Tom. I'll see if I can get in touch with the guys, at the Marshall site, and find out how they did it.
