Help....

Gentlemen, I crave your assistance again...much as I hate to admit this, but I've f****d up my Blueback hull, like big time. I just cannot get the sections to line up properly, no matter what I do, it just will not go together. It doesn't even fit where it touches, 'cos it hardly touches anywhere. If I fill all the gaps with filler, by the time I've sanded it all level I'll have sanded right through the hull in several places. It's a hard thing to admit, but it's my own fault...I f*****d up.

What I need to know is this : does there anybody out there know of a fibreglasss hull in 1/72nd scale that I could replace my wrecked one with? It doesn't really need to be a Blueback, just a 1/72nd scale fibreglass boomer type hull? Doesn't really have to be 1/72nd scale, I suppose...as long as it's a boomer type hull that my sail will sit on.

Anyone got a second hand hull laying about they will sell me? It seems a shame not to carry on, 'cos my sail is finished [and I think I made a good job of that bit] all I need is a hull to put the sail on.

I'm now going to go off and cry/sulk/kick my own ass/and generally be in a bad mood for an hour or so....

I would try to lay

I would try to lay more fiberglass on it if you got it that thin. Might aswell try. What are you gonna do mess it up? Give us some pictures there may be hope yet!

(b) I'm allergic to fibreglass, I've spent long enough in hospital just recently what with the heart attack, don't REALLY want to go back in again!

line up hull halves

How about just epoxying trim tabs projecting out from under larger areas to push smaller diameter section out when you push halves together?

Art, a good idea and

Art, a good idea and one I'd considered...I fear however that the section being stretched out would more be than likely to split at joins again, it's only thin plastic. I did consider letting it split open again, and then adding infills of styrene sheet to fill the splits in again...that option is still open to me.

I would consider the hull

I would consider the hull salvageable. I would back the hull with styrene and fill with evercoat or equivalent. GIve it a shot.

I'm coming over to Vancouver Island early next year (if I can pluck up the courage to fly that far...), I'll bring it with me and drop it off as we fly over yours! It'll go out the window...

Nuke and Dr. Art have great tips that will work. Have you asked Steve for help? He did a thread on building this sub, so there should be enough info from that and if you pick his brain, you might just get through this. I'm sure he would like to see one of his little babies take to the water.

The position is this guys...Ramesh (in all his innocence) has offered to have a go at rebuilding the hull for me. I'd just like to say a BIG 'thank you' to all of you out there who offered advice and/or condolences at my sad tale. The respsnse has been overwhelming and I thank you all.

A personal BIG 'thank you' to Ramesh(WD)for offering to have a go at getting the boat sorted, fingers are crossed he can see the way out of it, 'cos I can't. Fresh eyes, fresh mind...always helps.

Thanks again gentlemen...perhaps the Blueback wil live on.
