Dumas Akula, Worth a darn?

Has anyone built the Dumas Akula? I TRIED to build the Dumas Bluefish but never got that crappy WTC to seal completely even with modifications. Is the Akula another bottom of the pool toy?

Hi Dean, I just got through building a Akula. Although I did not build it stock I can say Dumas has made alot of improvements since the release of there first sub. The manual is quite good and so are the quality of the parts. Don't get me wrong this is still a basic kit, but for the price I think you get your monies worth. My good friend George(Crazy Ivan) has built his stock and is happy with his so far. He has submitted an article to the Subcommittee Report on it's construction.

Just completed the initial test

Just completed the initial test dives today, in fact. Several trips to the bottom ( 5 feet down) with no problems. Not bad for a vacuum formed WTC, I'd say.
