    Pool liner damage

XX1 - Kinda depens on the condition of the liner, what it's made of, how thick it is etc. Of course it also depends on the boat your running. If your running a Type XX1, U-boat, like I assume you are, from your forum name. Then the answer is no. There is no way the props could ever come in contact with your pool liner. However, if your running a more modern boat with the prop behind the rudder then there is a slight chance that this could happen. I must say, in all my years of building model Sub's I have never even been told of such a thing happening, let alone seeing it.

It is good however that your thinking about safety and asking questions. Thinking about safety is always a good place to start any project. Best Wishes..... Mike Dory

      It's not necessarily the prop

It's not necessarily the prop you need to worry about. When I tested my first boat some years ago, a Dumas Akula, the brass rudder and stern planes with their sharp corners totally destroyed my 4 year old vinyl liner before I realized what was happening. I found dozens of cuts about an inch or less all over the sides and bottom when I finally replaced it. Beware of any hard edged appendages!
