        Hi Guys,

First off, I'm a amature at this hobby. I'm in my 3rd year as a member of The Subcommittee. Therefore, everybody knows where I'm coming from.... I have been doing some internet hunting for a water pump for my OTW Type VIIc U-boat (the hull is completed). I found a Surflo RV/Marine pump OEM 100-000-21. It is rated at 2.1 bars (30 PSI) @ 12 volts. The size is 4.8" L, and less than 2" W/H. I think it would fit into a 3.5" WTC. It will be a tight fit with the intake and outlet ports opposite at the pump head (2.6" tip to tip). I was going to use a pressure switch to stop the flood and a Check valve on the pump intake. I haven't figured out how to control blowing the ballast yet. I could use another valve and simply dump the ballast, or set-up a control circuit to reversing the water pump.

        1. Is this water pump OK to use?
        2. Suggestions on controls?
        3. I'm willing to learn!

        Regards,
        Don_

          Hello Don,
          I don't know how

          Hello Don,
I don't know how much the rv pump will cost you , but I
believe the cost of the water pumps from Dick Smith's will
cost less and do a good job for you .
You could always make a check valve using a steel BB
and 2 sizes of brass tubing .If done right the water pump
forces the BB off it's seat with ater pressure . When the pump
is shut off the water and air pressure forces the BB back onto
the seat and keeps it there .
To release the water in the ballast tank you could use a
normally closed KIP solenoid , use a small micro switch
that will be triggered by a servo to apply the voltage nec.
          to open the valve .
I am going to be doing a little work on some electronic
fuel injectors , something that can be bought from the local
auto salvage yard for $10.00 each . I am going to try an
open up the injector so it has a bigger flow . If my
modification works this will be a good cheap source of a
water control solenoid . A KIP solenoid will cost about
$40.00 to $50.00 and about 4 or more weeks to get the
          unit .
