    Propel Danger?

Sorry for the link in Spanish. This is the story:
Some girls where playing in a car with a propel container used for cleaning electronic hardware and computers when one of them lit a cigarette causing an explosion that sent the passengers to the local hospital with burns in the face and some minor injuries.

The images show the car after the explosion.

Should we be more careful with propel?

    I am curious: where does

I am curious: where does it say that they used a propel container? I can only find "bote de aire comprimido". Also nothing about cleaning electronic hardware and computers in the text.

Given that (1) journalists often do not know what they are writing about and (2) make up what they are too lazy to research, could it be that the girls used some other sort of spray can? Quite a few of those contain flammable material, kids improvise little flamethrowers with them.

As a sidenote: they give the full names of 2 of the girls and the license plate number of the car, which I find quite shocking. That would not be allowed here.

      Propel Hazard

Propel is classed as extremely flammable - Yet another reason to use MG Chemicals Super Duster 134.

Here is the appropriate section from the Safety Data Sheet http://intranet.risd.edu/envirohealth_m ... Propel.pdf for Badger Propel...

Section IV - Fire and Explosion Hazard Data

        Hakkikt,

        Here is a link to

        Hakkikt,

Here is a link to a Mexican online news paper with the explanation about the use of a "can of compressed air like the ones used for cleaning computers":

Regarding the names of the girls I tried to find an online news service with no names and could not find a single one. It is not my intention to expose any one but to ask the forum community their thoughts and experience with this kind of substances.

        Tim,

Super Duster looks interesting I will try to find it locally.

            Butane n- - In low

Butane n- - In low concentrations may cause narcotic effects. Symptoms may include dizziness.... (from MSDS Nr : 302-25-2026BOC(A) )

Most likely the girls were using the dusting aresol for the narcotic effect.
            The buzz not the bang.

We had a e-mail that describes the user sucking the gas to get a buzz.
            May be called dusting.
One of the problems is the person can asphyxiate (die) with to high
            a concentration.

Please keep out of the hands of your young children. And you old
            children be careful too.

            -Scott
