    Attention Jeff Porteus!!

    Your email account is dead. I have tried to return your email about 5-6 times, and using the "Reply" function, I get the following cheery message:

    Tom,

    I beg to differ, sir -- just ask any of the zillions of spammers who manage to reach me at that address everyday! I've responded to your private message with a few suggestions.

    Thanks, buddy,
    JeffP

          Thanks, Jeff LaRue! Interesting, as I was using the straight "reply" function from his email to me. That means that his email address from his ISP is entered incorrectly. No typing (incorrect or otherwise) on my part.

              I've had the trouble with Mssr Porteus' email as well. Jeff, not sure how it works on a mac, but with PCs you can go into your email account and fix the "reply to" address.

                Thanks for the help guys;

                Thanks for the help guys; sorry for all the trouble. I did check the way my address is stored within my Time/Warner account settings, and it is correct, so I still don't know why automatic replies are misdirected. Weird. But excellent catch on that misspelling, JeffL -- that was easy to miss! I'll look for and/or warn others of this problem in the future.

                Best,
                JeffP

                P.S. While we're talking misspellings, BTW, just to put everyone on the same page, it's Porteous -- that is, Porte-O-us. This is not in any way a complaint directed at anyone, just a "for the record." That one's easy to miss too, and often is.

                P.P.S. Yes, there's a long explanation about the origin of "Jeffty," but we'll skip that for now . . .
