I'm making Regatta '08 a priority for this year. With any luck at all, I'll be there with a working r/c version of my VIIc/41. .....hmmmm....gotta get a trailer built.

                I'm looking very forward to

I'm looking very forward to Regatta '08, putting some faces to some names, and BSing about subs. If there is some sort of "sub launcher" available, that would be great, but I'm sure I'll engineer some sort of "thing" by then.

                Questions :

Are you allowed IN the pond ?
Is it actually 4' deep ?
It's not a swimming pool, ....is it, with a shallow end and a deep end ?

                  Mylo - There is more

Mylo - There is more then enough room for you to do a circle at the reflection pool in Carmel even in 1/25 scale, No Problem. As for the depth, well that can vary a little. I think it's safer to say that you'll get 3.5 ft. then 4ft. Diving there has taught me that Big boats (8ft. or longer) pertty much need to dive on an even keel . But there are lots of them there. Talk to Dave Hampton.
Quiestion is: Do you have enough time to R.C. your Type V11.? Even if you can't, Please do bring it to the regatta. We all are looking forward to seeing in person, this great looking boat you built. My very best wishes Mike Dory

                    Mylo (et.al.):

                    The Carmel Reflecting Pond

                    Mylo (et.al.):

The Carmel Reflecting Pond has a nominal water depth of about 27" (2'-3"). This can/may vary slightly.

It will also be noticed that the surface of the walls and bottom are somewhat abrasive: 60 to 100 grit or so (very rough estimate).

Some folks have put a 'rub rail' (styrene or what have you) strip on the keel to minimize damage.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing your project first hand.

                    Matt

                      The design of my sub

The design of my sub will be to dive/surface on an even keel. A 2' - 3' pond should mean that I can get it to periscope depth, which is good enough to play with. I appreciate very much the heads up about the rough surface, I'll prep the keel with something.

I am very motivated to get this sub r/c functional for Regatta '08. I fully expect to accomplish that. .....but then again..... I 'fully expected' to have this thing in the water summer of '07.

I CAN say that my original prototype static display model WILL be coming with me to Regatta '08 if nothing else.

So......can a guy get into the pool with his sub ? If so, I'm packing some hip waders, mask, snorkel, fins, etc., etc.

Matt, ....I have to ask....what's the deal with your avatar ? Is that someone you know in a sniper's scope ?

                        Mylo-
                        My avatar is a captured

                        Mylo-
My avatar is a captured image from a Video Periscope I was testing. Unfortunately I have yet to deploy it in a functional R/C sub.

Getting into the pool is allowed generally for photography and recovery. If it's as warm this year as last, you will have plenty of volunteers!
