    How well do pumpjets like those on the Seawolf/Virginia class SSN perform when put into reverse?

    I'm not sure on a sub, but with my time of doing some tugs with shrouds around the prop when going forward it takes a little bit longer to stop the model do to the prop having to draw/ suck all that water from the back side of the shroud back into it and then forward. I would think that this would be the same for a sub, from a stand still there should be very little difference.

      On my Jimmy Carter, it appears to be 2-3 less efficient in reverse than in forward. There can be many reasons for this, but I would direct this query to David M. he designed and built my PJ.
