What's on my Workbench

At the moment nothing but thats because at long last I have my new workshop which is 24ft x 10ft. It has yet to be connected to electricity and to have benches etc installed, I am planning on getting both a woodworking lathe and a metal working lathe to go with my various other items of workshop machinery and hand tools.

Most of my tools have been in storage for about 8 years so it will be great to have access to them again. I will let you know how I get on with things.

Hi guys,
I`m still working on my Revell Gato.When it`s finished it will be a combination of Big Daves WTC,David Merriman`s hull mods and front diveplane rig,and a few ideas of my own.I`m still waiting for a few parts to be delivered and a good bit of lazyness on my part have been the hold up so far,but I promise it will be done by Regatta time .I also have a Thor Alpha that needs to be finished.So thats my story and I`m sticking with it

Hi - Just about finished

Hi - Just about finished with converting the Nichimo 1:200 Type IXC U-Boat to U505. Next on the ways is building USS Jack (SS-259) from the good old Revell Lionfish. Need to use up the stashed subs before moving to the Trumpeter 1:144 Gato.

the materials - trumpy 1/144 Gato, 1 broken Air Hogs Storm Launcher, 1 photoetch detail kit

we are waiting on confirmation of a new rental house which will give me a building space and somewhere to actually set up my TOOLS (aka drill press, welder, air.. etc)

R/C conversion of the Trumpeter

R/C conversion of the Trumpeter 1/144 Seawolf.

I'm removing the propulsor and anhedral planes.

I assume removing the anhedral planes will increase the tendency for the submarine to roll into the turn, but decrease the turning radius?

I appreciate scale fidelity in a working model, but not at the expense of performance.

I thought I would post

I thought I would post my workbench itself, and my projects.
I have finally gotten where I wan to be. I have several, accurate (FINALLY!!) hulls. I lucky enough to get a good deal on each hull on the top shelf.
I remeber once starting on a kit on my patio in my apartment. Didn't like that. Built this 8 foot sucker, and have been accumulating tools along the way. Pictures will speak for themselves.
Note the USS Rhode Island cup (Thanks Kevin).








The Lathe is neat. Lots of small parts and 1/96 topredos in the cups, a laser level, an airbrush (compressor coming) dental tools, power outlets on both ends, and the dermal on a stand. The horse shoe is for luck, and a radio for jams. Two 8 foot lights wired to a switch.
I use paper floor mats from the dealership I work for often. They are handy for just tossing away after a small step in a project, and laying a fresh,clean surface out to continue.
Optivisor is essential for our purposes.

I am doing the Trumpetor Seawolf right now as a runner. With each succesive build, as I learn going along, will be added features to the next boat.
The Oscar is a Mcleod hull, the Akula is from Vladimir, the Kilo (To be built as the Alorosa pumpjet)a Manley kit, and the Gato to be acutaully built as a Balao.

And, a few more hulls coming....





For some time now, I have been getting two and three of each electronics or small parts, so that I would have enough for all these boats. I have now lined myself up to do what I have been wanting to do, build a few boats, work on the book, and my interests in Rita .
I have more than enough to keep me busy from now until attrition gets me.
This is why I am stepping down as Vice President. That and new blood is a good thing. I hope I served the committee well, and wish my successor good luck.
For me, I have everything, and feel great!

Two things, where did you find that little vise for your dremel stand? And turn that horse shoe around before your luck runs out! It's upside down. You've got some nice projects there and as far as I'm concerned you did a fine job as VP!.

I looked all over for the cup but couldnt see it. I did find however a nice belt buckle.If I showed you my work shop you probably wouldnt be able to find anything.

Where the hell are my tools ? This place is ****ed up, I can't do sh*t in here.

I guess the trick is to be somewhere in the middle.

Don, the vice was an option with the dremel stand. It is a dremel part.
Balance, Kevin. I do a lot of other sub things, like work on the book, answer and help others all around the world on details constantly. Any inquiry to the subcomittee website goes to me. Also, moved recently, met someone, and, significantly, eye surgry. Doctors orders were no close up work for a while.
I will build them at my own pace. No faster. Life has balance.
