Akula II: How many are there?

With a Scale Ships Akula in hand, I ask the experts here just how many Akula II's are there in existence, and does anyone know just how many different boats could I potentially model using this kit? I know that the kit is modeled after K-157 (Vepr) and I've seen photos of K-335 (Gepard) taking note of the external differences with the sail and the towed sonar array. I was wondering, did K-337 (Kugar) ever get finished or did they halt construction? Being me, I always like to model a little on the more esoteric side, and was contemplating patterning my boat after Kugar (if it's even been completed... I could always do a 'what if' kind of thing) and I didn't know if it would appear externally any different from Vepr.

      Sergey told me all of

Sergey told me all of the Akulas are slightly different. Over the consturction period, there were many subtle upgades and changes, making each boat unique. The Gepard is in a class of itself pretty much. It would not be unfair to consider it a 4th gen Akula. Besides the obvious, (sail and towed array pod), there are countless small details that are different.

        Brady,
        You can't make sub Gepard

        Brady,
You can't make sub Gepard from Vepr.
The sub Gepard has other sail, towed array pod and hull. The Gepard's hull longer on 7m.

You can buy Gepard's plan in Polar bear http://tok.severodvinsk.ru/subplans.htm
and you will found many differences of Vepr.

The Russian NAVY going to finish Kuguar sub in 2008. This boat will be similar with Gepard.

          I see! Thank you gentlemen

I see! Thank you gentlemen who replied. Wayne and Vladimir, going off what you two have said especially, I may have to rethink things a bit. Any suggestions as to a diff. boat I could model (with a more or less sorta close degree of accuracy) using this kit? Or do you think it'd just be best to stick with Vepr?

            The Vepr.
            Heck man, it

            The Vepr.
Heck man, it is the focal point in "Of Ice and Steel", and is the peak of the Akula II builds. A classic.
I consider the Gepard another class, gen IV, as do others
