The latest issue of the U.S. Naval Institute's magazine PROCEEDINGS has an article about the 25 best U.S. Navy movies. The list is in chronological order of the movies release date. Here are the eight sub films that made the list]BEDFORD[/i] INCIDENT

CRIMSON TIDE

Six of the 28 "honorable mention" films were also sub (or sub related) movies.

OPERATION PACIFIC
HELLCATS OF THE NAVY

GRAY LADY DOWN

U-571 was on the list of films to avoid.

Best Navy Movies

In my humble opinion, as an old "diesel boat" sailor, "Down Periscope", with Kelsey Grammer, should have made that list. It accurately showed the Diesel Boats, during the Cold War. And showed the differences, and competition, between them, and the nukes.
