    Siezing propshafts

    Hi

I have a U-47 that im having problems with the prop shafts siezing up with in the standard brass bushes that came with the kit. I`ve cleaned & added grease to try & solve the problem but they still keep sticking after its been in the water, one side more than the other. Up to now i`ve had to replace one side. Can anyone tell me how to prevent this & wether preplacing the brass bushes with ball races would work. If so is there a site where i could order them.

    thanks

    I had a similar problem

I had a similar problem with my tug boat. I used a high quality vacuum grease and after a few runs the shaft started to seize (brass in brass), to the point I thought it was done. I managed to get it apart, lightly emery papered (~ 400 to 600 grit) to remove any galling and then used faucet type grease. Its meant for water and I never had a problem again. I assume an automotive type waterproof grease (like what is used on wheel bearings) would also work.
