    SSN-22 PAINT

Apologies if this has already been asked/answered, but does anyone know
with certainty that SSN-22 USS Connecticut NEVER received the anti-foul red below the centerline?
I seem to remember someone saying the practice ended with SSN-21 and boats built since have been all black.
    All comments much appreciated,

    www.navsource.org

    Then go into the link

    www.navsource.org

Then go into the link for subs. Then go to the section for Seawolf class and you see some good shoots of SSN-23

      Duane,
      Thanks for the reply.
I have seen the 23 shots but the only dry (below midline) picture I have ever seen of SSN-22 is a panorama shot during construction at EB.
Have you or anyone else seen any other pre-launch pix of 22?
I have no idea what paint scheme she had when she rolled out of the shed for the last time before launch. I guess the presumption is that
SSN-22 is the first of the current all-black treatment.
      Thanks again,
      Kerry

        Kerry,

I've got a Dicovery Channel Seawolf video and there's an EB engineer interviewed that said all the boats after Seawolf will be all black. That's the best source I have.

          One note on Nav source.

One note on Nav source. Many of the pics are pre launch or alpha trials on the newer boats. There will be some changes which occur after the trials. For instance, if you look at some of the pics of the LA class boats, there are pics of the boat without the towed array housing in place.

            Kerry,

I think it is a safe bet to go all black, and challange someone to prove you wrong.

Glad to hear progress is being made on the Seawolf.

              SSN 21 Class Paint

              Kerry,

They are in fact all black from keel up. The only red they get nowadays is the primer coat which is then covered in black paint and black anechoic hull coating.

              Take care,
