    SUPERSONIC SUBS? UNIDENTIFIED SUBMERGED OBJECTS

For more far-out technologies the History Channed just had a show on USO's (unidentified submerged objects) I couldn't find a repeat date but below is an abstract of the show and then, basically the script for this show.

    ABSTRACT
    UFO Files: Deep Sea UFOs. - Monday, April 23, 2007 - 08:00-09:00PM
    Posted: Monday, April 23, 2007
Join us for a detailed examination of the little-known phenomenon of USOs, or "Unidentified Submerged Objects", an advanced type of UFO that can operate just as efficiently in water as in the atmosphere. These supposed otherworldly vessels have been reported, some believe, as far back as ancient Egypt. Others believe that USOs were reported by Alexander the Great and Christopher Columbus, and might even involve the lost city of Atlantis. Highlights include the 1967 "Shag Harbour Incident", a government-documented USO crash off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, and a trip to the area around Laguna Cartegena in Puerto Rico, a reported hotbed of USO activity. Interviewees include the US Navy's Bruce Maccabee, UCLA's Kathryn Morgan, as well as USO and UFO experts Stanton Friedman, Bill Birnes, and Preston Dennett.

    I can't talk about the

I can't talk about the rest of what is said in that pdf but I can give my opinion on a particular part of it that involves a strange incident here in Argentina.

This the transcript from the pdf:

<In 1960, the Argentinean Navy tracked two unidentified submerged
objects in the Golfo Nuevo, 650miles south of Buenos Aires. At first
it was thought that they were US submarines, but then they appeared
to break apart and fly out of the water. Paul Stonehill, co-author with
Philip Mantle of UFO-USSR, explained how the objects simply
emerged from the water and vanished. Paul went on to tell us that
the Soviet leader at the time, Nikita Khrushchev, was so impressed with
the report that he ordered his representative in Buenos Aires to
find out more about the event.>

This is what I know about the "incident":

It all started on January 30, 1960 in Golfo Nuevo (an almost an inner sea shouth of Peninsula Valdez in Patagonia, Argentina). The Argentinian navy was carrying training excercises in the area when some naval students saw an unidentified submarine. An ASW operation involving thirteen ships and forty airplanes was carried out. Even US Navy "experts" (a certain capt. Ray Pitts is mentioned as the chief of the US mission) were also involved (which, BTW, discards the silly idea mentioned in the pdf that it was a US sub...) This operation ended on February 25, 1960.

Some sources indicate that two other subs were involved. These were detected by sonar several times and attacked.

The soviet ambassador in Argentina was involved because they were blamed for the incident and not because of the supossed interest of Kruschev in USOs!!

    Then, what was it?
    -I discard US submarines.
    -Possibly soviet submarine/s
    -Possibly: other nation submarine
-Less possible: old Typ XXI abandoned in the Gulf at the end of WWII.

The later theory is interesting: there are many rumors of Typ XXI subs sunken in the area after their crew landed carrying nazi officers (even Hitler!! in one of the theories). In 1960 one of these u-boats was detected and attacked and then it moved because of the deep charges...

      THE USO SUBJECT BRINGS UP

THE USO SUBJECT BRINGS UP THE EXISTANCE OF A REAL "X-FILES"

There exists a formal and formidable collection of weird natural happenings. It has been taken from news accounts and reliable scientific periodicals.

TEXTS ON A VARIETY OF SUBJECTS FOR UNUSUAL HAPPENINGS.
The general subject areas are astronomy, biology, chemistry and physics,
geology, geophysics, logic and mathematics, archeology, and psychology.

      Two items of interest:
      1. OF GREATEST INTEREST UFO’s and USO’s are not covered in these books.
      2. These below topics would be an ideal starting point for basic research programs and then for applied, next-generation technologies. Suggestion: get the most recent publications -- they present more information. This material will be of interest both to the casually curious and to the researchers who are looking for phenomena in nature that would be worthy of basic research….. in order to make radically new or next-generation technology discoveries.

      The publisher is Science Frontiers.
Their collection of books on science anomalies is called The Sourcebook
      Project.
They can be ordered from The Sourcebook Project, PO Box 107, Glen Arm, MD 21057, Tel # 1-410-668-6047.

The website for this project is www.science-frontiers.com/sourcebk.htm

AS A SAMPLE, HERE’S SOME "WEIRD WEATHER" PHENOMENA

INTERESTING TRICKS OF THE WEATHER. Chunks of ice falling from the sky. Tornado funnels glowing at night. Conical hailstones with fluted sides.
Polar-aligned cloud rows. Ice fogs (the Pogonip). Conical hail.
Gelatinous meteors. Point rainfall. Unusual incendiary phenomena. Solar
activity and thunderstorms. Tornadoes and their association with
electricity. Multi-walled waterspouts. Explosive onset of whirlwinds. Dry
fogs and dust fogs. Effect of the moon on rainfall. Ozone in hurricanes.
      Ice falls (hydrometeors).

STRANGE LIGHTS IN THE SKY. Horizon-to-horizon sky flashes. Episodes of
luminous mists. Mountain-top glows (Andes glow).Earthquake lights. Ball
lightning with tails. Rocket lighting. Lightning from a clear sky. Ghost
lights; ignis fatuus (a phosphorescent light that hovers or flits over
swampy ground at night, possibly caused by spontaneous combustion of
gases emitted by rotting organic matter). Darting streaks of light
(sleeks). The milky sea and light wheels. Radar-stimulated phosphorescence of the sea. Double ball lightning. Luminous phenomena in tornadoes. Black auroras.

LUMINOUS PHENOMENA IN NATURE. Low-level auroras. Ball lightning.

        one of my other interests

one of my other interests is the world of the paranormal. i try to stay open minded and listen to those that can try to make rational arguments in trying to better understand many of the things that go on in our world that we, for now, do not completely understand.

a podcast that i enjoy weekly, the paracast, did about an hours worth of discussions on uso's in a past episode, if i remember correctly.

they have a small thread on their discussion forums related to uso's as well: http://theparacast.com/forums/showthrea ... hlight=USO

some of the regulars on this board are a little, well, even too strange for my tastes. but a few good points are discussed and links to some info is included in their discussions.

at the risk of sounding too far fetched, i will also mention there was a guest on their program not too long ago that presented a theory that all ufos are actually uso's, and that there are no extraterrestrial aliens and crafts, but that, instead, we may be sharing the same planet with another species of creature, far more advanced than ourselves, who for whatever reason try to avoid contact and interraction with humans.

sounds crazy, i know. but the guest brought up some very interesting theories.

        whatever..... enjoy...

        e.

          Knowing I could not expect

Knowing I could not expect a reply from one of our submariners, since it is a very close group, and sworn to secrecy about patrol events, I have talked to several Russian submariners about things too deep, too fast.. and got some interesting answers.
