I must admit that I have to know someone quite well before I even tell them!

On the plus side we don't quite fit into other minority interest groups who may have to meet secretly. Operating a sub at the pond you almost need crowd control to keep, very interested , membes of the general public at a distance.

I wish I had a Pound (Sterling!) for every time i've answered:

      - Yes it does dive.
      - Yes I can control it underwater.

Now that is really cool! But may I suggest a lighter color shirt. It is hot enough as it is!! That black was a killer. BD.

Any suggestions as to color? The gray ash color from the old days or something else?

                        I've been asked many times

I've been asked many times how i have the patience to spend so many hours working on a model aircraft that could crash. my answer has always been that it doesn't take any! if you are doing something you enjoy it doesn't take patience. what takes patience is working at a job you don't like just to keep food on the table for your family. non-hobbyists believe it takes a lot of patience to do small, precise work only because they dont enjoy doing work like that themselves...
from the book Table top Machining by Joe Martin

I use something like this when i talk to somebody that is a real smart@#&!

                          Tim,
Just something on the lighter side of the color spectrum would be nice. I always liked the ash gray. BTW- not to get off subject but Table Top Machining is a great book. I highly recommend it!! BD.

I cant wait to come to the regatta this year. Im always deployed when it happens. Wish I had more time to get my boats ready though. White is a good color. it doesnt stain other clothes and wont make you sweat your booty off.

To tell, or not to tell..

                              Hehe, great topic.
Having scratch-build my 1:82 Ohio, I been in MANY shops asking for funny parts and materials. Normally it goes pretty well, until the explaning and the situation brungs up the Q "What's it for?"

My answer takes me one of two ways. Eighter I'm stuck for the better part of an hour explaing, illustrating and sharing, OR they become slightly distant. The first group only let's me go after I give'em the link to my page.

                              Top Q'sand comments:
                              1) Can it dive, and how deep
                              2) Price / time to build
                              3) What's the point, you can see it
                              4) Can I see it? (Yes 'see', not touch / drive...)

Good thing though: People can pretty always remember me, when I start the next contact / conversation with: "It's me with the submarine..."
