I have been looking at both the Std RCABS system vs the Reverse RCABS. I have plenty of room in by boat for a tank. Anyone have any thoughts about the pros and cons of either method?

Hi Dave - Until Big
Hi Dave - Until Big Dave or Crazy Ivan chime in - there is a good thread at http://s181686668.onlinehome.us/phpB...=reverse+rcabs that talks about the reverse RCABS. Might be the best way to go with your big boat.

Hi Dave,
I have a
Hi Dave,
I have a fairly good explanation of both systems on my web site. The R system is by far the better system. It's only drawback being space needed for the pressure tank. The RCABS is a great system too but I like the safety features you get with the R. You always have a full tank of air when you are under the water to fill the bladder if the MPD kicks in, and no vacuum buildup in the cylinder. I have it on some good intelligence that Crazy Ivan is doing an article on the system for the next issue. BD.

Just re-read that thread, Tim.
Just re-read that thread, Tim. Wow, did I really say all those things? Thanks for the reminder, they will make some good talking points for the article.
Oh, and Dave H:
Do try to keep the volume of material above the surfaced waterline to a minimum. These pumps will only move air so fast. As I am learning from my Revell Gato, the more volume you have to lift above the waterline, the bigger the air bladder needs to be, thus the longer your dive time becomes.sigpic

As promised in this thread
As promised in this thread - George "Crazy Ivan" Protchenko completed his Reverse RCABS article and it is in the June 2007 SubCommittee REPORT magazine - on its way to you right now! In it, George does a nice job of comparing and contrasting the difference between RCABS and Reverse RCABS ballast systems with words and pictures.
