I have read books that discuss these accidents yet i have not seen any information regarding the rescue buoys and how they did or did not play a role.
i understand that the thresher had no chance once it went though crush depth, as seems to also be the case for the scorpion, but having said that, rescue/recovery efforts consumed much time and resources, doesnt it seem like this question would have been at least discussed in the books?
after reading the book "death of the thresher i thought ,
what happened to the rescue buoy??? i saw a placard from it that almost got sold on ebay before being donated to the navy after being spotted by a sharp observer.
but no mention in the book.
how did someone end up with that??? also what happened to the recsue buoy on the scorpion? i dont see it in the wreck photos either.
