        Refreshing being the operative word.

Refreshing being the operative word. On a hot August day, that means cold. Has to be a beer.

Well, in that case it's a done deal—of course.

          Ohio hull, availability

          Hey, guys.

When I (3½ yrs ago) started my Ohio project, Thor had one in 1:96. As we all know, it soon became unavailable. As a result I had to scratch build mine (and changed scale to 1:81).

It would be great if someone would start to make these hulls! Scratch building is great fun, but not everyone dares to start a project that big, and through my web site (containing the full construction of my sub) I have had MANY questions "where to get..."

So... from here, a "full speed ahead!"

            I would like a set

I would like a set of CAD plans or external arraigment drawing of the Ohio, if anyone has a set they are willing to confide in me
            Bamboo shoots, I won't tell.
It is a very interesting boat.

              I don't know if these

I don't know if these will help, but I saw these Ohio class plans on EBAY.

              http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0082793190

The listing expires on the 28th of February.

              Hope that helps.

Do we assume the Ohio is now officially in the works and preorders can be done? (prod , prod )

                    You can assume all you

You can assume all you like. You know what happens when one does that.

Drawings are progressing nicely. No pre-orders. Now cut that out. I will make an announcement of that.

Could use a bit of help though. The EB plans I'm referencing do not show forward of the front hatch, or aft of the superstructure, on the top center of the boat, so I have condradictory reference for the positions of the ballast vents, capstan and hatches in those areas. If anyone has any good information on where these should be located it may help.

Pete try this picture. I believe the second man aft is standing on the capstan. This is one of the best public pictures I've seen showing this angle. It's high res so it blows up to be pretty big.

Nevermind Don, I found it. Is the capstan to the starboar, port or directly in the center?

                              Pete,
I guess I have to work on getting my links right. Sorry.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it's slightly offset to starboard, maybe Nuke power can chime in on this one. It's been a long time since I've set foot on a Trident. I've been looking at what I have for Trident details and the only thing I see back aft past the superstructure is two open holes (not sure what they are for, a set of hinged cleats and the ballast tank vents. Navsource has some real good hires pictures showing these. Look for the pictures taken from above the boat from some sort of aircraft. There is a shore power hatch directly aft of the engine room hatch, no capstan that I remember though. You would think that a boat that big would have one back aft somewhere. I keep digging and let you know what I find.

Does anyone know if there is anything at all going on with a possible vender coming out with an Ohio class SSBN?
