MPM 1/72 U-Boat kits for 2007!! Achtung, Herr Larue!

Six U-boat kits from MPM are listed on their web site. Includes Type II, Type XXIII, and Biber. Looks also like a conversion kit for the 1/72 Revell to a Type VII-D minelayer.

Click on the link, scroll a bit past halfway down, ignoring all the winged items that preceed the really important stuff.

MPM have had that Typ XXIII for some time, nice that they offer the "Hai" and "Hecht" after-war conversions.

Yep, 1/72 sure is a nice size for the Type II. It might be a little on the "thin" side but overall it should be a nice kit.

Anybody has screenshots of the kit's contents?

            is MPM = "Special Navy"?

I hope they took our advice and added alignment pins to their hulls, and that these hulls aren't banana shaped.

Either way, a 1/72 Type II is on my list to have.

What's the difference between the CV 707 Vesikko and the Type U-IIA? They look the same.

The Vessiko was the prototype for the Type II U-boats. The hull designs are practically the same, the only difference I can see is the conning tower design.

The CV707 was built by the Germans before WW2 as part of a clandestine effort to retain their ship design and building expertise. It represents the immediate predecessor to the Type IIA.

The changes made going to the Type IIA, which appear to be minor, were the result of the other clandestine activity where the Germans operated the various U-boats in order to retain naval experience.
