    German torpedos

Most pictures of German torpedos used during WWII are in black and white. The body appears to have a metallic finish before it is covered in grease, but what is the typical color of the nose? I have seen various models with everything from red, yellow, brown, black or metallic. Does anyone have any color photos?

    Hi Dave,

    The body of both

    Hi Dave,

The body of both the G7a and G7e torpedoes was steel and as you noted were usually covered with grease. The warhead and afterbody sections were typically a green color.

Practice warheads were red and white.

We'll need to find and scan in some color photos.
