I have been working on
I have been working on my Gato"Revell 1/72" for a while now.Been a lot going on here over the last 5 months with my wife who passed away 1 month ago.I plan on doing the hull similar to Merriman and useing one of Big Daves WTC kits.I have the kit in my possession and the hull is just about done.I don`t see water trials till late or midsummer, still a lot to clear up.I plan on being at the Regatta this summer, maybe the Gato will be ready.

1/25 U-255
WEll i finally got started, i had to start from scratch meaning even the bench to work from. I had a cpl of nice alluminum tops that i made a platforn for nothing fancy but does the trick. I then scaled and cut out my Hull template that i will build onto and cut out and remove as i go along. I picked up a heavy peice of Angle iron that i will be tacking it to to use as a platform and way of holding the Hull straight as i go along. Ill have to start in the centre of the hull and work outwards so as to cut down on the hull trying to twist and cock from welding. The two centre main pressure hull halfes are rolled to size and ready to be tacked into place, ill send pics as i go along. Doc

Well The main ballast and
Well The main ballast and end caps in place, after the hull is completed i can open up the top and do the top of the ballast tank then. The template will remain in ballast tank, holes will be drilled in it to allow water to travel to both sides. Two more seperators plates will be put in each side later as well again with holes drilled in them to allow water transfer and to act as baffles to slow the water down traveling frnt to rear, much like an engine oil pan. The center portion of the template will be cut out as the hull progresses. My deck plates are roughed out and sitting in position for the Photo, the main deck will just be screwed on for the building process so it can be made removable later, the nose and rear section will be welded in place. I went with the cut down end caps on my tank so it will leave me room for a rail system on top to put movable weights on for my trim. Its all good in theory Doc
