Request from a US Army 1Lt stationed in Iraq

This came in through the main website and it appears to be a legitimate request. I had a friend in the Army check it out and this 1st Lt is indeed stationed in Iraq at Camp Victory. If you are interested in sending him something - drop him a line at the email address below.

The following information was received on December 20, 2006:

    Name: Adam Willingham
    Email: Adam.Willingham@us.army.mil

My name is 1LT Adam Willingham and I am writing you to ask for a favor. I am currently deployed to Iraq for approximately 18 months.

We all have loved ones back home, friends and families we hold dear and
true to our hearts. Living on past memories of good times is what keeps us oing day after day. While we all chose the path that lead into the
military, we must endure over 6-8 months with out seeing the faces of our loved ones to be able to see them for weeks on Rest and Recuperation (R&R) just to come back to Iraq until the tour is over.

My guys and I are working 13 hours days, while being deployed. I have the honor of working with 40 young men and women who come from all different walks of life, with one common goal: defend the freedom of the United States. These Soldiers background incorporate the full spectrum of people in the USA.

I am not writing you to tell you a sob story about the life of the Army
soldier; however I am writing you to ask for any donations you can give.

I am stationed on Camp Victory, and we are surrounded by water. I am
setting up a RC boat racing competition to increase unit morale. I am
currently looking for RC Boats, although I cannot repay you in monetary
value, I can send you letters and photos of the Soldiers enjoying what ever you choose to donate.

If you choose to donate anything please use the address below. Any help
you can give will definitely lift the spirits of these young men and women
while they are away from home.

    Respectfully,
    Adam Willingham

    Tim,

    I posted this on SP

    Tim,

I posted this on SP as well. Hope you don't mind.

Guys this is a good cause. If you have anything you can send please do. These guys are over there so we can sleep well at night and have a safe and happy Christmas.

No matter how you fell about the war don't hold it against these great guys. The above mentioned is the true reason alone in their hearts.

Please help. If I was in the boat biz I'd send them a bunch so they could have some joy of their own and forget for awhile.

    Steve
