Hi Ed, did you get your Typhoon finished? I got side tracked, went off and did other things for a couple of years before getting back to it. Then I sold it just before painting and promptly got a new kit (with the new hull). I am about 60% done on the new one.
Hey Ramesh!
How are you doing? No, I did not finish, I sent the hull to Chuck for some much-needed help. As Clint Eastwood said, “A man’s got to know his limitationsâ€. I do not know if you remember the electronic compass, I wrote software for, for use in the sub? I started on a more complex sandwich module with all the electronics for just about anything you could think of. If you wish to see it, it is at www.robsonco.com) put the software, explanation of how the sensor works, and a schematic of how to connect it on his website. Then it turned out that the Chinese were using their nuclear military subs to search for oil. This has made their neighbors “nervous†and they wanted to build underwater robots to do the job. The big problem with GPS is that once you are underwater, GPS no longer works! They needed a compass. I build some proto types for evaluation and was surprised their engineers came back and said the compass was accurate to 1/10 of 1 degree! For their purposed, only 1/2 of a degree was all that was required. The word spread and soon I was assisting a scientist in Australia and a guidance laboratory here in The USA on other projects. If this were not enough, at my work another engineer need a compass for a project he thinks will sell big to television stations. Bottom line, I became completely side tracked. Sorry for the long silence, I have missed you guys.
And you have been missed, Ed.
We have to talk sometime soon. Have I got a story to tell.......
Regatta this summer ,maybe? If everyone started planning now, getting there should be very doable
I talked to Chuck around 4 weeks ago about my CR Nautilus. At that time, he stated he was continuing on the project. I received one email from him from a different email address about 3 weeks agao, and since then nothing more.
Hi Ed, glad you been busy! Thats really nice work you've done there. Those electronic sub projects have wetted my appetite; my next sub is going to have some new toys!
