    APC 4 Question

I have an APC-4 and it is ultra sensitive to any vibrations. I have tried everything from mounting it away from my motors to putting it on foam. But is still causes chatter. Even if I don't have the motors on and I tap the mounting it moves. It works like it should when you tip the boat. I have caps on the motors. I contacted Mike and he said I can send it back but I don't want to send it back if I am doing something wrong. Any comments or suggestions.

Did you try moving the jumper plug to the "less sensitive" position?

Just for comparison, my APC4 is mounted on the same bracket as the airpump/motor and right in front of it. It is isolated only by the foam tape. There is no problem with chatter on the middle sensitivity setting.

I did move the jumper but still had the same problem. Did you have any chatter on the other sensitivity settings?

        Haven't checked the other settings

Haven't checked the other settings - the mid-point seems to work well so haven't tried other positions.
Perhaps a related note - my SubSafe does what your APC seems to be doing. There is sometimes extreme chatter when I activate the air pump. Also, it sometimes empties the bag rather than filling it when it goes to failsafe mode. Like you, I'm trying to figure out whether it's me or the unit before I send it back. Mike is really great on the support side!

          check your voltage !
if the problem is related to motors starting to turn,
chances are that the batteries cannot supply enough current, and the
          voltage drops.
that is something microprocessors (like the apc en subsafe)
don't like one bit. they either reset or get confused

            Hi Dave -
I've had the problem from time to time on the bench but it seems to settle down when I put the boat in the water. Not sure why?
