    robbe U-47 modifictions

    Hi All

Can anyone tell me how to install a static dive system to a sub that has already been built without causing any damage? Also what batteries can I use once its installed? Ive been told I can use the same batteries but isnt the battery space use for the dive system?

Has anyone fitted lights to their sub & if so how?

    I am using the sub

I am using the sub c size nickel metal battery packs that the car guys use. One battery last more than a 1/2 hr. It is not tested yet, but I have a bladder in the battery area with the center bulkhead removed & a pump under the deck in front with the switch operated by servo on top in front of the receiver.

        Hi

        Can anyone tell me

        Hi

Can anyone tell me what other batteries i can use in my sub. At the moment im using robbe`s own batteries which i find to be poor quality and dont last long. Ive already had to replace them due to not charging after only a couple of runs.

          You may want to take

You may want to take a look at either Ni-MH sub-c size batteries, which are available in capacities in excess of 4 AH now, or perhaps li-po packs, which will give lots of capacity at a price.

            batteries

Here's food for thought. When you buy your batteries and you charge them, how do you know the batteries capacity is any good even though they are new ?

I just purchased a Piranha digital peak charger. I charged two sets of 7.2's. The first set charged out right, the second set barely had half the capacity. So, unless I had a digital readout to show me this, I would never know that my new set of batteries (1 set defective) would be installed and I would be non the wiser.

Maybe keep this in mind when you buy your next charger, make sure it has a performance read out of some sort.

my 1.5 cents - cdn exchange for 2 cents...

              I agree, I put 15

I agree, I put 15 C cell NIMH in my U-47 and it works well, but if I was doing another one, I'd use li-polys like I did in my Blueback. They're so small and light for the capacity. A bit more fragile and lots of care needed when charging, but you should take care with all batteries anyway. The others will melt down too. I've been there, done that.
