Setting up APC 3 ? Dumb question...

Lost the instructions for my APC 3,, but the APC 2 instructions I believe are different. With the APC 3, will it matter which direction the wires stick out of the box, it will with the APC 2.
On the APC 3 when the bow is tilted up, the traiing edge of the aft planes are up or down ? I should know this,,, thanks Jeff Jones

When the bow is tilted up, the stern planes would/should be tilted down.....

You're right, I think the APC-3 does care about it's orientation. The wires would come out the right side of the unit.

I usually just mine it

I usually just mine it up before fastening it into the WTC and tunr it around and tip it back and forth until the planes are moving in the correct orientation. Then draw an arrow with a Sharpie pointing toward the bow on the APC box, so I remember which way it points if I ever have to take it out

The reminds me of the time......

We were down at Lake Trashmore and Gene Berger had his huge 32nd Parallel Balao out for a run. He spent some time showing us the insides of his beautiful model, after which he put the dive module covers back on and proceeded to take the sub for a spin.

Now all during his show n' tell, Gene is telling us (okay, bragging!) about how well this sub runs andhow he's got everything fitted and tested to perfection. Well, Gene commands a dive and uses the throttle to give the boat some more speed. Down she goes, pretty as a picture.

....for about 5 seconds, after which the sub takes on a rapid nose down position and just about goes vertical. Stern sticking up in the air.

Gene quickly blows the ballast, stops the motors and the Balao comes back to the surface, perfectly level. He decides to try again...same results.

This goes on for about 10 minutes, with the bunch of us ribbing him for having created the perfect R/C representation of a depth charged sub. Finally, Gene brings the sub back to shore and we help carry back to the bench. After a few minutes of head scratching, because everything seesm to be working correctly, one of us asks him if the top of the dive module compartment should be installed with the arrow facing the stern.

Gene turns red in the face.

Yup, you got it. He had installed the top on backwards and the APC was glued to the underside of the top.

Moral of the story: arrows are nice.....but do a bench test before going for a swim!

thanks Guys,
I did have the front of the box maked fwd, and a P adn S on the sides, but dang, if I could remember which way the aft planes were supposed to point, they type IX is sitting on another work bench buried under future project with the batts, dead... Thanks, Was Gene's sub Balao PINK at that time,,, Jeff Jones
