1/72 scale 4"/50 cal Deck gun - Iron Bottom Sound

Was looking for someone who had a 1/72 scale 4"/50 cal
Sub deck gun on the net.
Found one by Iron Bottom Sound for $35.00
The Gun arrived as lump of resin.
About 30 or so parts so poorly cast that it is almost imposable
to tell one lump of resin from another.
If anyone is looking for a 1/72 scale 4"/50 cal I would suggest that you save $35.00 and look elsware.

    I find it very interesting

I find it very interesting how you posted this with out contacting IBS with your dissatisfaction on the deck gun. The gun comes in 30 Parts, each labeled as to what the part is for. Also, a step-by-step build up, email instructions, and support are sent with each gun kit. The flash has has to be removed from the pieces. There are photos of what the gun builds on IBS in an unfinished state, and also of the finished state of all sides. The gun was built after studying a real one. If a piece on the real gun is casted, the piece is casted on the kit, for example, the breech cover. Many have purchased the gun and there has been very positive feedback for it. That's how we know to keep a product online or even to improve the product to the builder's satisfaction. IBS does not sell a product unless it is built first to see if it works well for the modeler or the model.

      I also got one of

I also got one of the 4" guns. Mine was exquisite. Good detail, but real small. Maybe you need glasses. Try a magnifing glass, and see how it looks. If it still looks bad, contact Iron Bottom, I have no doubt they'll take good care of you.
It's a beautiful piece of work, and 1000% better than the 3" gun that comes with the kit.

        Mike , He is refering

Mike , He is refering to the 1/72 version, Its more complex piece then the 1/144 one, That 1/72 is made to swivel and elevate on the turning gear like the real one and is very detailed, if you know how to build it that is.. BTw a second part of that WWII conversion set is in the works.

          Iron Bottom Sound

          Gentlemen:
Your comments regarding my posting are always welcome.
I am 70 years old and have been building wood
Plastic.rezen and Vacuuform models sence I was 12.
I have watched the quality of these kits improve greatly over the years
As these kits have improved in quality so have my standards rgarding
          there quality.
I guess that today I expect all kits to have evolved to a higher
          standard.
          But it juist ant so!

            Sea Dog, if you had

Sea Dog, if you had a problem with the kit why did you not notify us? Did you not get the email showing the step by step build up of the kit including the description of the parts along with step by step photographs of how the gun assembles? You state the castings are poor, there're no air bubbles in the castings since everything is pressurized and the masters were machine made, you seen pictures illustrated Why did you buy it? It’s a very detailed complex piece, I have sold many of these kits and you’re the only individual that didn't like it, and if anyone is interested you can check Ebay under rustysub and see the feedback on the guns. After all this instead of coming to me, you go and take upon yourself to trash a kit that’s evidentially not your skill level. Instead of whining and building the gun the way it was supposed to be built via the instructions that are supplied to you. It is not a hard build. This is what customers have told me. The gun comes in three main assemblies, the Gun, carriage, and base. The carriage comes pre drilled and cleaned so that it can sit in its base and can be made to pivot, and elevate with ease. Secondly as Mr. Sea dog failed to write the kit comes with many extra parts including a test fitting base incase of a mistake. And if a mistake is made the policy of IBS is to immediately replace it, with NO charge and NO questions asked. And those who have done business with me can concur. Sea Dog you sir have some Nerve!
