Could not resist! - Gato Plans

I was working on my 1/72 Gato prototype cylinder and had the full sized plans out and had to put my 1/180 scale USS Growler on the plans. As you can see this new boat will be a lot larger! I still can't believe that Revell is going to kit a boat this big. I for one can't wait. BD.

I wasn't exactly excited when news of this kit first came out.
But once I realized that this new Gato is bigger than my Engel Lafayette? Mine is on preorder

        Hmmm....I wonder what the level

Hmmm....I wonder what the level of interest would be for a photo-etched deck for the Revell kit?

I've been slowly working on gathering all the research materials in order to begin the CAD work necessary to draw a fully detailed deck for a 1/48th scale Gato/Balao. It wouldn't be that much additional work to re-scale to 1/72nd.....

Of course, I have no idea how long it will take me to actually get the drawing done!

          Jeff-
I think you should seriously consider it. Revell is going to sell a billion of these models.

          count me as interested.

            Same here about the scale!

Same here about the scale! When I first saw 1/72, I figured someone got confused and meant 1/96 but this new big kit ought to really pump up interest in our hobby if we get the publicity out to the right markets.

                Jeff, if you do 1/72nd,

Jeff, if you do 1/72nd, than how about 1/96th for me pal!

Have a plug in slow production, I will send you some photos this weekend!

This is my own scratch build, Not a SSY hull!
