Robbe Type VII and Type XXI - kit questions

I have been looking over the net and would like to know opinions on the Robbe Type VII and Type XXI kits.
Are they a good starting point to get a nice operational sub on the water?
    Are there any American suppliers?
    Thanks,
    Bob

I can't answer as far as an opinion is concerned but I just checked and ships and things carries both. They are out of New Jersey and thier web site is Here.
    I hope this helps some.

      Yes, they are good starter

Yes, they are good starter kits. The Type 7 was my 1st build & I am building the type 21 right now. Lots of people have built them & have tips & tricks to get more out of them. The type 21 is a more recent kit & I am finding that it is easier to build, in spite of it's larger size. Robbe has learned a few things from the Type 7 & made the assembly easier.

        I have recently built the

I have recently built the robbe U-47 which is a type VIIB submarine. Its the first sub that i`ve built & i found that in some parts of the build the instructions were`nt completely clear but with diagrams that are inclueded with the kit plus a look on the net I managed to complete it. Its a nice looking sub which i think is a good sub to start with due to it being a dynamic & not a lot can go wrong with it which is great for a beginner. Unless you add a static dive system at an additional cost of roughly £170 then things start to get complicated. Hope this helps.

            hey Delphin,
            I had seen

            hey Delphin,
I had seen the XXI from Robbe at the 05 regatta that Ships-n-Things had on display. I can't answer anything for you on the building of this kit, however the geneal apperance of it and the size of the overall kit was very impressive. It was finished out and painted in kind of a standard scheme. I havent' built anything new in a few years and am trying to decide myself on the next project. Reason I have been on here so much latley, just fishing for ideas , kind of leaning towards Steve's 1/72nd Blueback, thanks alot, Jeff Jones
