    Destroyed June Edition SCR.

Hi guys just received and put in the bin instantly the June Edition.
    Why?
Well its completely water logged - so much so its just a mass of running ink mixed with entrails of words and pictures.
Can I please request that future SC editions are sent with a plastic wrapper instead of the paper envelope.
I really not happy about this - this is not the first time! You guys can't control the weather here but you can make allowances for it. If it costs more to get it here in one piece so be it, we already pay a premium being outside the US.
    Thanks
    John

    I do agree, this is

I do agree, this is a problem. I have had a similar incident with one of my issues.

Either plastic, or at a push maybe a waxed paper envelope?

      Plastic mailers are good ...

Plastic mailers are good ... the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) bags theirs. It does require a address sheet for addressing and I don't know the cost differentials but it would show off our beautiful product. Have you discussed the ruined quarterly with your carrier and postmaster?

        It's not clear to me

It's not clear to me that this is really as big a problem?

However, I will be glad to ask about changing out the paper envelope for something more 'waterproof'. Assuming that the cost is in line with the paper, then I don't really see why we shouldn't do this.

actually, we had a big rain here and my paper became a little wet too.. but not enough to be damaged... lucky me i guess?

the idea of a plastic wrap for such a good magazine might not be bad

            Jeff,
please do make enquiries re waterproofing.

As far as Australia Post are concerned they are not responsible if a monsoonal down pour seeps into your mail box (despite the problem being that they left it about half an inch hanging out of the mail box, allowing the SC report to act in effect as a down pipe into the mail box). So I am screwed.

Re the waterproofing, if my wife's garden and artist magazines can arrive in plastic, I am sure SCR could do so too.

I am prepared to pay extra cost. Right now I am out of pocket for the June 2006, and I have lost others before. Jeff, this is not an isolated occurrance and I really would be prepared to pay a little more (if necessary) to guarantee our fine publication arrives ok.

            Thanks
            John

              Hi All,

              I have had one

              Hi All,

I have had one waterlogged copy too- several months ago.

It rains a lot here in Cumbria, UK

              Plastic bag would be improvement.

              David

PS Very nice to see excellent photo of Astute class on back of latest issue.

                John,

Please contact Don Osler (membership@subcommittee.com) and we'll make sure that a replacement issue is sent your way. You shouldn't have to suffer with a damaged issue. We always make an attempt to cover these kinds of occasional problems with delivery of the SCR.
