    Crazy Ivan's Akula

If you are like me I bought a Dumas Akula figuring to quickly become a submariner. I purchased a Thor Design Permit with a Merriman WTC-3 shortly after the Akula, and shelved the Akula.

But upon returning home from the Sub Regatta in Carmel, The Akula has moved to the top of my list! Why???????

Well, If you want to see the ultimate performing Dumas Akula you should seek Crazy Ivan. Met him at the recent Sub Regatta in Carmel, and was awed watching the performance exhibited by his Akula.

Besides answering a bevy of questions I unloaded on him, he was going to check about the Sub Committee Report past issues regarding his building as well as Big Dave's how to make it look as great as it performs article on his Akula.

Talking about Luck, I actually Won those issues at the Raffle Drawing at the Regatta.

    Thanks, Richard Strickland

    Well you did it Richard!

    Well you did it Richard!
There will be no living with George now!!
But you are right. No one knows more about modifying the Akula than Crazy. He has that boat running like a Swiss Watch. George can take the simplest things and make them perform like a million bucks. BD.

Big Dave, one of the most humble creative genius, you will ever meet!!! The man that has done so much to take static plastic sub models and recreate them in to functional, realistic performing submarine replicas. As well as supply the masses with his affordable Instructional WTC kits to allow them to replicate his accomplishments.

Can not let Crazy Ivan get one up on you, LOL You guys are the craziest of the greatest!

        Thanks for the kind words,

Thanks for the kind words, Richard. When I saw the cover of the top issue of the SCR's stacked up on the raffle table, I was thinking of you. Glad you lucked out. Look for a follow-up article in an upcoming issue covering my Reverse-RCABS upgrade (as soon as I can get it written).

So now, I guess Big Dave and I both need to duct-tape our heads so they don't explode!

                  I guess I should have

I guess I should have just posted the sites for copper and SS floats. The place I bought Crazy's and mine from is Naugatuck Mfg. Co. http://www.naugatuckmfg.com/default.html They seem to have a good range of sizes. Another choice is McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/ as they have many sizes for about the same price too. I guess it's your choice.

I just looked at the invoice from last year and I paid $7.38 without shipping for CI's copper 3" and $17.61 without shipping for my 3.5" 316 SS. The prices from McMaster seem a bit higher at 3" copper $11.94 and 3.5" 316 SS $23.40.
