    DSRV kit - Manufactured??

    Hello All,

I noted photos of a DSRV in the photo gallery. Does anyone know if this is a kit, if so, who is the manufacturer? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Best Regards

    Loyalhanna Dockyard lists a DSRV

Loyalhanna Dockyard lists a DSRV in their catalog, I don't know if it's the same one in the gallery. The DSRV in Loyalhanna's catalog is 44" x 12", and the sticker price is $1575.00.

            Tim-
you're not splitting hairs. As Myles pointed out, Marc's "Mystic" is the DSRV I was thinking of. Marc had that whole set of photos of the model as he was building it posted here.
I screwed up, and said "Alvin"... thanks for the correction.

Can't get the link to work.

Does cast resin mean a slush poured polyurethane casting, or is it a laid-up hull without the conversion bits for RC thrusters etc.?

                  Hi Guys,

I apologize for not jumping in earlier. I was putting up a huge solar system model down in South Carolina! Sometimes its more than just subs... heh heh... Jeff LaRue is correct, the Static version of Mystic is indeed a slush cast resin pour. The RC Version mold presents a two piece top to bottom in epoxy fiberglass. I will get Dave Merriman in the loop again to see how he is fixed for making up the small thrusters. He has heard me say a few times I am comin' with the kit and he has learned to be sensible with me and just wait for it to show up... We have been so busy that no one here has had time to get the pieces out to him to work on thrusters. So this will get done in the next two to three weeks... More later!

The Royal Navy indeed has their own DSRV's. I believe the original ones we had were bought straight from the USA. I know of one ex-RN DSRV that now takes holiday makers out into Loch Ness Nessie spotting !!! Well it did one season until they had to stop due to the constant small hydraulic oil leaks polluting the Loch.

The Royal Navy now uses a DSRV called the LR5 (Royal Navy details of LR5),now that would be an interesting model to make.
