Hi, I'm new to the board and just got interested in rc submarining. I was wondering if it was possible to take the Beginners rc "pool toy" Akula into a lake but not take it down? I was also wondering how deep can it go?
[color=#000000]I've been running my Dumas Akula in quite a large lake almost every fortnight for over 2 years now. And unless you have quite a large pool, at ~83cm I wouldn't really call it a "pool toy". The Akula sails quite nicely in large bodies of water, including frequent dives in front of the lake's pontoon where we all sit (ie. I dive it in the area in which it can be seen underwater). I've had no hesitation in occasionally taking it to even bigger lakes for regattas with other clubs either. Just gotta make sure the diving area is weed-free and you'll be right. There's some piccies of my Akula in our club's lake here.
I've regularly hit pool-bottoms at 6' with no leaks, and once I think my wife accidentally took it down to 8-10' judging by the time it took to surface. ]
