    Anyone Near Fredricksburg, Tx???

I am looking for someone that might be willing to go and get as many pics as possible of the Japanese Type A located in the National Museum of the Pacific War. I am looking for pics of hatches, holes, vents, seams, weld lines, rivets, and any other details that you can get. I have tried to email them to see if the museum could help, but no reply was received. This boat seems to be the best preserved that I have seen. No detail is too small as it is to be included in a 1/16th scale model. I have noticed that the details from one side to another are not necessarily the same. Also I do not have much visual info for the top of the hull or the sail.

What is in it for you, well, I can pay gas, lunch, and admission to the museum. Any takers?

    Adam,
I posted pictures of the sail of the fleetboat, which is behind the museum, on subpirates about 2 weeks ago.
The jap sub is indoors and been cut up for viewing and had parts removed. I was so disappointed I did not even click a picture of it. You can only see a small part of it anyway. The sail, front, rear, planes, etc are not visible to any degree. One side of the hull is visible with a walkway down the side and holes cut into it so you can see the inside.
Fredricksburg is a one hour drive from where I live.

The pics that I have of that sub show it sitting on a mock deck of a carrier sub indoors and I have seen pics of one outdoors. Do they have 2? The one outdoors was cut up, but the one inside appears complete. Thanks Wayne.

Better yet, I did an extremely detailed set of digital photos of the Type A in Groton about a year ago. I even did a closeup of the rivets, with a ruler in the photo for size. I still have the files. Contact me offline.

They only have one midget. In the little park area out back is the fleetboat sail.
Of course, that was my whole reason for being there
