    Who's Holland?

In the latest Report shows a couple photos of a neat looking USS Holland sub. I've been looking for a reasonably priced kit in the 12" long range to kitbash into a scale version of the sub shown in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, where the sub was disguised as the Loch Ness Monster]http://www.atombum.com/Images/Models/capture1.jpg[/url]

Can anyone tell me if there's a kit available which I could use for this? As you can see from the pictures the sub in the movie was heavily modeled after the Holland.

    Thanks,

    Robert

    there are a few kits

there are a few kits out there that are plastic, and im pretty sure most are resin. they, if I remember correctly are all from Germany, or at least Europe.

Norbert Bruggen, who runs Modell Uboot Specialization (sp?) also in Deutschland makes a kit that is a sister to the holland, or at least based on the Holland, but I'm not sure as Ich sprecken zie kline Deutsche. It's dated c.1904. It is a sweedish boat, called the Hajen. Here is a link. http://www.modelluboot.de/KITS/Hajen_Ordner/Hajen.html

If this will fit the bill, get in touch with him, he is good to deal with. I have heard some complaints about it taking things a long time to get from Germany, But I have not had a problem (Of course he my just really like me???)

    good luck.

        Build it yourself then!

        Build it yourself then!

John Lambert does some nice drawings of a Holland class boat-

Alternatively, you may want to try placing an advert for either a S/H 32nd parallel Holland kit, or a Rocky Mountain subs hull.

Both of these ar no longer in production, but some folk may have old kits gathering dust that they'd be willing to part with for a few dollars.

          Robert,

          the Nobert Bruggen sub is

          Robert,

the Nobert Bruggen sub is similar to a Holland sub yet it is not built in license, as per the website. It says that it is designed by a Swedish engineer by the name of Cars Richson, who apparently worked a couple of years with Holland.
