Ken Hart in Fine Scale Jan 2006 issue - ..and more sub kits from Revell

First SC president Ken Hart was found alive & well outside Syracuse, NY by the Editors of FSM. The January issue of Fine Scale Modeler features some excellent photography & a write up of Ken's Type XXI U-boat dry dock diorama. Many old timers actually saw this at one of the early SubRegattas, and it is truly a work of art. Nice to see that Ken is back writing articles on submarine modeling again. Hope we get to see him appear on this forum again.

In a somewhat related matter, Ken used the old Revell (AG) solid hull Type XXI in 1/144 scale for this work. Production of this kit ceased about 10 years ago, but Revell has announced they will be reissuing it in 2006. A cutaway version with interior has been the only Revell version available for some years, although a Chinese version of the Type XXI in 1/144 was released about 3 years ago.

...And, for all you 1/72 Type VII maniacs, they will also be releasing a Type VII-D minelayer version in May, 2006. This joins the Type VII-C and Type VII-C/42 kits, further expanding the U-boat offerings in 1/72 scale.

    It's a very nice diorama.

[color=#000000]It's a very nice diorama. The warehouses and all the set up is amazing!
He used N scale figures which are a little bit shorter than they should for 1/144. Now that you tell us that is an old diorama I see the reason of this]
