That is correct. Adm. Topp was a member of the SubCommittee and at least on one occasion wrote a personal letter to our membership chairman that included some thoughts of his around the Battle of the Atlantic.
If I remember correctly, we published his letter in one of the issues of the SubCommittee Report back when I was the editor.......
....a very nice gentleman who will be missed.

Absolutely correct. That letter from Adm. Topp resides in a place of honor on my desk; I'll treasure it always.
Adm. Topp was indeed a gentleman, eloquent and kind in every exchange I had with him, and I'm certain will be missed by many around the world.
