    German U-A class submarine (Batiray)

I decided I need to build a model of the Turkish contract boat "U-A" or "Batiray", operated by the Kreigsmarine in WWII. does anyone here have any information, pictures or links to information/pictures of this design?
I have seen the page on Uboat.net & I am looking for any additional help I can get.
I am thinking about converting a Revell Type VIIC into one... perhaps even my big type VII
Thank you all for your time,
    Harry

    Harry,

As you most likely noticed the E Zone sub forum is nearly dead. Contact me and I'll tell you why. Many of us are not there anymore including me.

      Hi Harry,

I'm no expert, but I do believe the Type 1A built in 1934 allocated to Turkey would look more like a Type IX hull than a Type VII. One thing, no saddle tanks...

        I found this ref information

I found this ref information in my sub books..

Batiray constructed at Germaniawerft, Kiel for Turkish navy - completing in 1939 at the outbreak of war. Requisitioned by the German navy and renamed U-A in 1940.
Similar internally and in size to the German type IXD. Batiray was a minelayer, built slightly larger than her sister ships Atilay and Saldiray (which were more like type IX A.)
The large bulges at the sides were for mine stowage.
Batiray had some very untypical features such as raised gun platform, and an enclosed conning position on top of the tower.

U-A was the first boat to operate in the south Atlantic in the summer of 1940.

Lemme guess - you're off to draw the plans of a type IXD hull with a 'Batiray' tower??

Actually I always thought the tower on U-A looked very interesting and worthy of a model. I guess in situations like this where there is not much information to find, if you go with mostly a type IXD hull who is to say "that is not correct".

I mean, is he standing on a box or ladder..? It's an awfully long stretch to reach up from the deck to the end of that barrel!!
