Here are some pics of U534 which was salvaged and is now on display at the museum in Birkenhead UK.

I think it is very interesting to see the U-boat in this condition..you get glimpses of the anatomy a bit like those cutaway drawings show.
The damage to the rear was caused by the depth charging which sealed her fate. I read that if you go on the tour through the boat you can also see the catastrophic split in the pressure hull from the inside.
One last point to note - she is slowly being restorred to a fashion. Originally there was hardly any of the tower intact. They have rebuilt this new tower to exact specs following original plans. I don't know how far the restoration will go..
