Model Submarine Technology "2"? - Is this the same book with a new cover?

I spotted this on the Traplet Publishing (Google - Traplet USA) website today. To anyone who has actually purchased it - is this the same book with a new cover or has it been updated, corrected etc.?

I just got a copy of the new Submarine Models and Their Originals also from Traplet (c 2005 ISBN 1-900371-86-3).

From a quick look it appears that it might be a good addition to a model submarine builders library, but it isn't the definitive book on RC subs. That, in my opinion, has not yet been written

    I meant to post a

I meant to post a note about this.

I spoke to a nice lady on the Traplet stand at the International Model boat Show, yesterday.

She told me the book is due for release in the next couple of days.

Available for pre-order now, it has been fully revised and updated to reflect the advances in model submarine technology since publication of the original book almost ten years ago.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to preview the book, as they didn't have a copy on the stand.

However I will be taking a gander at it in January at the London model Engineering Exhibition- if you can all wait that long.

I did attempt to weedle a review copy out of them, but was unsuccessful.

Maybe someone else with more clout in the Sub Committee would have some success?

      Tim,

      When I last spoke with

      Tim,

When I last spoke with Chris Jackson, the editor at Traplet, he mentioned that there was going to be a re-print of the original......this photo sure looks like it would be the same book.

          So if I am reading

So if I am reading this right - according to Andy's source its an updated book reflecting ten years of changes in RC sub technology since it was originally published or according to Jeff's source - its a reprint of the old book with a new cover.

When my copy arrives, I 'll let you know who has the best insider info!

              So are you saying that

So are you saying that the book has had no updated content at all?

After all, sub electronics have come on a long way in the past nine years, and Norbert sells a comprehensive line himself.

Much of the rest of the book is still relevant, and always will be, so not much need of an update in that case.

I have them both next to me before my original copy goes off to its new owner. Its the same, word for word, picture for picture. Still a great book as you say.

                  Could someone check the two?

Could someone check the two? I am pretty sure that I was also told that the various errors in the circuit schematics were going to be corrected.......

[color=#000000]It will still be a "must have" on your bookshelf but it is a pity that some of the electronic stuff has not been updated.

                      It's too bad that they

It's too bad that they didn't take the opportunity to amend some of the errors in the book, and add some new information.

It would appear I was fed bogus information from the Traplet rep, oh well.

As Davy says however- an invaluable book that should be on any model submariners bookshelf, and at least the reprint will prevent older copies exchanging hands for inflated sums on ebay.
