In Seardh Of Alpha Propeller - Looking for any info & diagrams

??? Is there anyone out there who has information or diagrams of the Alpha propeller? I'm trying to help Mike Wernecke with a redesign of the prop for his scale Alpha kit. Any information would be very useful and much appreciated. I also noticed that the Greg Sharp Alpha plans show the prop rotating clockwise while the photo on the SCR March 2004 cover shows that it would rotate C.C.W. Which way is it??

??? Holy smokes!! A titanium propeller? Talk about expensive! In a way, this news makes things a bit easier as far as casting a prop is cocerned. In dentistry we use a cast cobalt-chromium alloy for partial denture frameworks. Dental labs are very familiar with this material which is silver in colour and very corrosion resistant. Another option would be to use a stainless steel or aluminum alloy.

Wayne had a whole section

Wayne had a whole section of that SCR issue on the Alfa back a short while ago. Included shots of the submarine & a set of horizontal & vertical drawings with details.

Thor's Alfa model is dead

Thor's Alfa model is dead on perfect on the screw in the back. Also there is an attenuator on the hub.Matt did an outstanding job with the information avalible at that time.
For the moment, the Thor Alfa is the closest to accurate out there.
The model you are helping to upgrade is a beautiful kit. But, unfortunately built on dated infomormation. I was disappointed to see that, as his efforts turned out a real nicely done boat.
The article for the Report I did had photographs of the Alfa in drydock. Photos are fairly absolute. When I do run into a question, I ask a former Alfa officer who I just got back from overseas to meet and been writing for years.
He did tell me after seeing the Alfa kits avalible here they were very good, but shaped wrong and the intakes were wrong. Shortly after that I got photographs from another source. Sergey also said no two Alfas were different enough to tell which was which from a photgraph. He said they were all the same externally.
The Alfa does have a straight taper to the stern, which means Mikes kit would have to be totally redone from the beginning.
There is a lot to the little Alfa. I have learned the correct position of the bow planes and they are, in fact, staggered!!
The little Alfa is full of surprizes.

Nice pic!! What do you mean by staggered bow planes? Could you pleas clarify this with a drawing? The Alfas are full of surprises!

staggered is an aeronautical word.

staggered is an aeronautical word. it means "set off".
normally when you see the sub from the bow, the planes should be on a same level. On the Alfa they are not. Staggered of an height equal to the thickness of a plane.

The bow planes were designed to retract straght in and one on top of the other because of the limited space of the small hull.
