                Hi John,

You have done a very good job John!
But..... I see that you have followed the scribed lines on your Thor Alfa hull.
I'm building my Alfa too, but I'm triyng to redraw the correct posicion of holes, bow planes....
Probably I'll do some holes and details on "correct" position and others on original place (as Thor sells the hull).

Thank you for your nice pics

                regards.

I am glad to see that we have such an 'expert' on the Alfa among us. Between the 50 plans or so of the Alfa that I have seen, none of them agree with any of the others. So, I guess accuracy is relative when it comes to the Soviet boats. I chose to leave the hull as is due to the avalanche of conflicting data. When a Alfa sailor grabs one of my hulls and points out the wrongs, then I would have listened!

I'm really eager to finish my Alfa. I can't wait to sail it !
But my boat is building too slow..
it has been on dry-dock for long time.

About right position holes and other detail of Thor Alfa, I don't doubt about the HIGH quality and dedication of his kits. It's only a comment to try to learn more about this russian boat.

                      Regards.

I thought our russian sub expert did give you some precious infos about the Alfa. Certainly the most accurate photos and plans it was possible to get. If you have missed these infos please contact him as soon as possible (as you are retiring, it will be more for your own information than for the project of a new Alfa hull but its better than missing these awesome datas our friend did collect).

                          Antoine,

Yes, our Russain expert shared those photos with me. Unfortunately it appears that not a single Alfa was built identical to the rest. I have some other photos that show different reactor intakes that look more like what the Akula has. Dave and I were planning on retooling the Alfa after the completion of the 1/48th Gato and were still collecting information. I doubt that it will ever happen now. But, the 1/48th Gato is a labor of love for Paul Crozier, Jeff Porteous, Dave Merriman, and myself. It will still be completed as planned. Although I am planning on releasing only 25 kits through Paul Croziers company that sells the Type XXI. After they are gone, that will be it!
