When I clicked onto the URL's of the fotos I could not go directly to them. But I was able to get them when I copied the latter part of this posting, put it on my e-mail's "Write" section, then copied one url at a time and put that into my "GO" {to] blank at top. Long way around the barn, sorry.

    Shorter suggestions will be appreciated.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. This is a "Big Boy" R/C sub model. Thanks for the news.

Above is the 'Cutthroat' LSV-2 after being hauled down to the bottom of Lake Pend Oreille in preparation for a buoyancy-propelled return to the surface during which flow-noise measurements were recorded. Cutthroat seen here broaching the surface ala 'Pickerel/Seaview'. These models are 1/5 scale or larger! Judging from the water draining, it must have been a slow to moderate ascent (no corks here), never-the-less, sure the photographer I imagine still had to shoot on the fly.

A Seawolf SSN 21 model too - Kokanee (LSV-1), was built much earlier and tested as well. The facility sponsored a contest among local elementary schools. The 'Cutthroat' name was the winner, after a local well known fish species from this region.

This news is somewhat old, but the photos presented that you found (the last three) are large, new & extraordinary!

Large-scale model testing provides accurate results at a modest cost. Another reason Lake Pend Oreille was selected, besides it's great depth, was it offered a very quiet lake accousticly for accurate measurement, along with security.

Thank you for the fresh images.

          Steven

Very interesting model! It's a good thing to see that models are still being used these days of computer modelling and the like.

What about the propeller? It looks like a pump jet without the shroud.
