Just a topic for conversation...
I was reading some posts on another board and the subject was brought up about what the new design of US SSBN would be like.
Some speculated it would be based on the Virginia, others think the Seawolf. Still others think a completely new bottom-up design.
Has anyone heard anything or have any opinions?
One thing I found interesting, and it makes sense, that the new SSBN would carry fewer missiles, perhaps down to 16 or 12 per boat. Budgets and lack of cold war no longer demands 24 per.
