    R/C sub simulator available???

I have seen computer games that are flight simulators for R/C planes. And there are several for racing cars and such. A friend tells me that there are even programs that allow the user to plug his radio control console into the computer and "fly" his virtual plane exactly as he would his physical model. It is great for practice and for those days when the weather is less than cooperative.

Is there such a simulator for R/C submarines?

It would be great for newbies and for those who live far away from their local Lake Trashmore.

If there isn't, I have a friend who says he could write something up that should work.
He has written a few flight simulators and thinks that modeling water might be easier than air.

Would this be of interest to anyone here?

    Does anybody have any suggestions?
Details that would add to the fun?

    I have only seen them

I have only seen them for planes, since a wrong move the stick can cost you thousands of dollars. Submarines are a bit more forgiving.

          How about patching FMS?

This is an excellent freeware flight simulator, which allows user programmed scenery and models.

I've 'flown' airships in the program which handle a little like submarines.

Wonderful software!!! I never had any luck with my plane, flew it three or four times... all ended disastriously . Gives me a chance to practice, thanks for bringing that up Andy! I find that the helicopters are a lot like dynamic divers, they always want to go up! (I got a soft spot for that little yellow heli) Gliders tend to do the opposite however.

Definitely yes to FMS. It does improve your control and reactions.

              Dangerously habit forming though!

We posted about this topic some months ago and since then I've taken up model flying.

              From an ex-model submariner!?

                When I first attempted to

When I first attempted to fly, the first flight lasted about 10 seconds, and I totalled the plane.

I then found FMS, practiced like mad on that, and went successfully solo with a self made plane- the Frog.

Can't recommend that plane highly enough, light, easy to build, cheap (cost me £10 with the motor) and built to take a heck of a lot of abuse.

It's also very easy to fly. Much better than any of the GWS kits.

Well, when I flew mine the first time, it lasted about 6 seconds and I crashed the plane into a tree. It was winter when I flew it so when I grabbed the rear fuselage (a stick), it was weakened by the cold weather and broke in half... went home and quicky patched it up and took it on my second flight+third, both times I crashed into the snow and the fourth time I tried it went head down straight and the cockpit went home with a missing piece. OH BUOYANCY, WHY WEREN'T YOU THERE????!!!
