Adding Pictures

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me how to post a picture with any replies.

Please explain in words of less than two sylables if possible - (I thought the Luddites where far too technologically advanced!) - the http:// thing has me totally baffled ....... is it not possible to load directly from my computer ?

Any assistance gratefully accepted.

To post pictures you must

To post pictures you must provide the URL of the location of the image (yes, it has to be loaded on a website or online).

Click on the "image" button on the post reply and type in the URL. Just right click on the image, and select properties to locate the image's URL.

Hope this helps

In order for a picture

In order for a picture to show up here on the boards, it needs to be uploaded, or "hosted" online (IE]www.subcommittee.com.
3.) once you've added the photo, go to your member page and right-click on that photo. A little screen should pop up with the location of that photo online (IE]http://www.subcommittee.com/SubComm/ima ... inted1.jpg)
Copy that address down.
4.) go to the message that you'd like to add the photo to and click on "IMAGE".
5.) paste or type the address into the screen that pops up and hit enter.
6.) type in an alternate set of words for the url. This is a really cool feature that might hide something like the aforementioned "http://www.subcommittee.com/SubComm/images/photos/painted1.jpg) and replace it with "My Nautilus' new paint job". When someone clicks on the text, they still get to go to the picture.

This is about as easy as I can make it. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line at webmaster@subcommittee.com.

Here it is, stated a little differently.

To "post" photos on this forum, they actually have to be posted on a website somewhere and they are just linked to this forum.

There are a few free website providers out there - but the best way is join the SubCommittee then you get free web space right on this site that you can post your photos on.

Go to your website where your photos are already posted and right click on the pictures and go to "properties." Then block in the URL of the photo by dragging the cursor over it with the button pressed. When the whole URL is blue from being blocked, copy it (Ctrl-C).

Now, come back to the SC forums and start your message. When you want to insert the photo, click on the Image button at the top of the screen and paste the URL of your photo (Ctrl-V) into the window. (Note that it automatically sticks an http:// in the window. Be careful not to add a second one - if you do, it won't work!)

Finish up your message,

Preview the post (use Preview Post) button to see if it looks okay.

If it passes muster, click on the "Add Reply" button.

And that's it. It seems complicated but if you have basic computer skills you can do it - heck if you can build a model sub, your certainly can post a link to a photo of it.
